Kent Laforme

Altissimo

Sculptor Kent Laforme discusses his exhibition,"Altissimo", at the Elliott Louis Gallery from June 2 to 20, 2009. The exhibition consists of marble sculptures that depict interpretations of different fabrics in stone. T-shirts, handkerchiefs, pillowcases and socks are carefully arranged, then carved in order to re-present both a landscape and the object's relation to the figure.

Artist Andrew Tong in a wide ranging discussion with art dealer Ted Lederer as he discusses his exhibition, "So It Goes" at the Elliott Louis Gallery in Vancouver, B.C. Included are Andrew's upbringing in South London and how the violence and crime that were endemic to his family and area influenced his work. The title of the show refers to Kut Vonnegut's book, Slaughterhouse Five - the paintings, often seen through the eyes of children, reflect how man's greed can lead to all manner of apocalyptic action.
